O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Visits 201 Speedway on June 7

 

Louisville, Kentucky-June 1, 2008- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Graphic Impressions kicks off the month of June with series points event number seven at the Chuckie May promoted 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY.   The event will be a 40 lap, $3,000 to win event for the racers of America’s most competitive regional series.

 

201 Speedway in Sitka, KY will host the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Models on Saturday June 7.  The June 7 racing event will feature a full program of practice, Racing Optics time trials, Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, K&N Performance Engineering, Graphic Impressions, and Real Racing Wheels qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $3,000 to win O’Reilly A-Main.

 

Activities for the June 7 201 Speedway event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will take place at 6:45 p.m., practice will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by Racing Optics time trials and then right into green flag racing.  Ticket prices for this event will $20 in the general admission area and $30 in the pit area.  Local divisions also in action at this event will be Open Wheel Modifieds, Bombers, and Four Cylinders.

 

The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division has made thirteen previous appearances at 201 Speedway.  Previous winners of events at 201 Speedway include Eddie Carrier, Jr. (2002, 2003), Aaron Hatton (2003), Tyrel Todd (2004), Paul Harris (2004, 2005, 2007), Whitney McQueary (twice in 2005), Mike Jewell (2006), Chris Combs (2006), Rod Evans (2006), and Justin Rattliff (2007).     

 

The O’Reilly A-Main purse for the Saturday June 7 event at 201 Speedway is as follows: 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $1,000, 4th- $800, 5th- $750, 6th- $700, 7th- $650, 8th- $600, 9th- $550, 10th- $500, 11th- $450, 12th- $400, 13th- $350, 14th- $350, 15th- $325, 16th- $325, 17th through 22nd- $300; 23rd through 24th- $250

 

Known as Eastern Kentucky’s best kept secret, 201 Speedway is a ¼ mile banked red clay oval promoted by former Super Late Model racer Chuckie May.  201 Speedway is located 5.4 miles North of US 23 on State Road 201, just North of the Sitka community, just outside of Paintsville, KY. 

 

The Super Late Model division of the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series last competed on May 30 at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY and series points leader Victor Lee of Stanford, KY made history becoming the driver to win three straight series events.  The remainder of the top five in series points leading in to the June 7 event at 201 Speedway are Tyrel Todd of Science Hill, KY, Zach Carney of Mooresville, IN, David Webb of Nicholasville, KY, and Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY.  Completing the top ten in points coming to 201 Speedway are Larry Gray, Eric Wells, Mike Jewell, Don O’Neal, and Arnie Fields.
