Eastern Kentucky Doubleheader Up Next for O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series July 4 and 5

 

Louisville, Kentucky-June 29, 2008- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Graphic Impressions will continue its 2008 run to the championship as the season approaches the halfway with a doubleheader of Super Late Model racing action in the Eastern Kentucky area at Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY on Friday July 4 for $3,000 to win and at 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY on Saturday July 5 for a $5,000 to win event for America’s most competitive touring regional Super Late Model series.

 

Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY will host the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Models on Friday July 4.  The July 4 racing event will feature a full program of practice, Racing Optics time trials, Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, K&N Performance Engineering, Graphic Impressions, and Real Racing Wheels qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $3,000 to win O’Reilly A-Main event in what will be the first series visit here since the 2005 season.

 

201 Speedway in Sitka, KY will host the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Models for the second this season on Saturday July 5.  The July 5 racing event will feature a full program of practice, Racing Optics time trials, Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, K&N Performance Engineering, Graphic Impressions, and Real Racing Wheels qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $5,000 to win O’Reilly A-Main event. 

 

Activities for the July 4 Mountain Motor Speedway event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will take place at 6:45 p.m., while practice will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by Racing Optics time trials and qualifying heat race events.  Ticket prices for this event will $15 in the general admission area and $30 in the pit area. 

 

Activities for the July 5 201 Speedway event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will take place at 6:45 p.m., with practice starting at 7:00 p.m, followed by Racing Optics time trials and qualifying heat race events.  Ticket prices for this event will be $20 in the general admission area and $35 in the pit area.

 

The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division has made two previous appearances at Mountain Motor Speedway.  Mike Marlar won the July 4, 2003 event, while Eddie Carrier, Jr. won the September 2, 2005 contest. 

 

The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division has made fourteen previous appearances at 201 Speedway.  Previous winners of events at 201 Speedway include Eddie Carrier, Jr. (2002, 2003), Aaron Hatton (2003), Tyrel Todd (2004), Paul Harris (2004, 2005, 2007), Whitney McQueary (twice in 2005), Mike Jewell (2006), Chris Combs (2006), Rod Evans (2006), Justin Rattliff (2007), and Victor Lee (June 2008).

 

The O’Reilly A-Main purse for the Friday July 4 event at Mountain Motor Speedway is as follows: 1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $1,000, 4th- $800, 5th- $750, 6th- $700, 7th- $650, 8th- $600, 9th- $550, 10th- $500, 11th- $450, 12th- $400, 13th- $350, 14th- $350, 15th- $325, 16th- $325, 17th through 22nd- $300; 23rd through 24th- $250.

 

The O’Reilly A-Main purse for the Friday July 5 event at 201 Speedway is as follows:  1st- $5,000, 2nd- $3,000, 3rd- $2,000, 4th- $1,500, 5th- $1,000, 6th- $800, 7th- $750, 8th- $700, 9th- $650, 10th- $600, 11th- $550, 12th- $500, 13th- $450, 14th- $450, 15th- $425, 16th- $425, 17th- $400, 18th- $400, 19th- $350, 20th- $350; 21st through 24th- $300.

The Super Late Model division of the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series last competed on June 28 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN and Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville scored his second series win of the season.  Victor Lee of Stanford, KY is the current series point leader.  The remainder of the top five in series points leading in to the July 4 and July 5 weekend doubleheader are Tyrel Todd of Science Hill, KY, Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY, David Webb of Nicholasville, KY, and Eric Wells of Hazard, KY.  Completing the top ten in series points coming into this weekend’s competition are Zach Carney, Mike Jewell, Larry Gray, Arnie Fields, and Royce McGowan.
