O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar
Series Visits “The Bad Fast Taz” May 24 (REVISED)

18, 2008- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series
presented by Graphic Impressions will continue its 2008 championship
points chase over Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday May 24 at Tazewell
Speedway in Tazewell, TN at the Gary Hall promoted 1/3 mile
high-banked East Tennessee red clay oval.
Tazewell Speedway in
Tazewell, TN will host America’s most competitive regional Dirt Super
Late Model series on Saturday May 24. The May 24 racing event will
feature a full program of practice, Racing Optics time trials, Graphic
Impressions, K&N Performance Engineering, Real Wheel, and Wayne Bowen
Racing Supply qualifying heats, B-Mains, and a 60 lap, $5,000 to win
O’Reilly A-Main event for the Super Late Model division of the
O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series.
Activities for the May 24
Tazewell Speedway event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with
the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will
take place at 6:30 p.m., practice will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed by
Racing Optics time trials, followed immediately by green flag racing
action. Ticket prices for this event will $20 in the general
admission area and $30 in the pit area. Local divisions also in
action at this event will be Crate Late Models, Modified Street, Pure
Street, and Four Cylinders.
The O’Reilly Battle of the
Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division has made two
previous appearances at Tazewell Speedway. The tour first visited
“The Taz” in 2004 for the series season finale and Scott Sexton Pigeon
Forge, TN was the race winner and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN was the
winner of the other event in 2007.
The O’Reilly A-Main purse
for the Saturday May 24 event at Tazewell Speedway is as follows: 1st-
$5,000, 2nd- $3,000, 3rd- $2,000, 4th- $1,500, 5th- $1,000, 6th- $800,
7th- $750, 8th- $700, 9th- $650, 10th- $600, 11th- $550, 12th- $500,
13th- $450, 14th- $450, 15th- $425, 16th- $425, 17th- $400, 18th-
$400, 19th- $350, 20th- $350, 21st through 24th- $300
Known
as "The Bad Fast Taz", Tazewell Speedway is located just two miles
northwest of Tazewell, Tennessee. Going north on US 25-E, turn right
and then left onto Bacchus Road, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8
miles west and the race track is located on the left.
The Super Late Model
division of the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series was
last scheduled to compete on Friday May 16 at Ponderosa Speedway in
Junction City, KY, but that event was weathered out. The 9th Annual
Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial is now scheduled for Friday May 30.
The O’Reilly Battle of the
Bluegrass DirtCar Series sanctions regional Super Late Model events at
tracks in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee. For more
