O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Series Returns to Action at
Ponderosa Speedway on August 24th |
LEXINGTON, KY (8/19/07) - After a short
summer vacation, the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Series
presented by Arizona Sport Shirts returns to racing action
this Friday, August 24th at Ponderosa Speedway for the 5th
Annual John Bradshaw Memorial paying $5,000 to the win. The
last Series visit to the speed plant located just outside
Danville, KY saw 2004 Series champion Aaron Hatton pick up
the $3,000 paycheck taking home the 12th Annual Pete Abell
Memorial victory.
The John Bradshaw Memorial event was placed on the racing
docket at Ponderosa Speedway late in 2003 as a combined
event with the Fall Classic that paid tribute to the memory
of the late Mr. Bradshaw, who died unexpectedly in early
2003 after only promoting about five nights of racing at the
3/8 mile D-shaped clay oval, but made many improvements
during his short time at the promotional helm of the track.
Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY was inaugural winner of
the John Bradshaw Memorial back in 2003. Benji Lee of St.
Joe, KY scored the biggest win of his Super Late Model
racing career by winning the 2004 event. Another
second-generation driver would pick up the 2005 event win as
Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV would claim the event
win. Bedford, IN native Greg Johnson is the 2006 winner and
defending champion of the John Bradshaw Memorial race.
Coming into the fourth stop of the season at the track known
as "The Pond", the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Series
has crowned only two different winners in 2007 at the Larry
Yantz promoted facility. Dunnville, KY native Brad Neat and
Mt. Sterling, KY native Aaron Hatton have both called the
Ponderosa Speedway's victory lane home this season with
Hatton collecting two wins this season. A complete show is
on tap this Friday night which will include Racing Optics
Time Trials, Arizona Sport Shirts Heats, Design 500 B-Mains,
and the 50-lap John Bradshaw Memorial.
The purse for the 5th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial is as
follow: 1) $5000, 2) 3000, 3) 2000, 4) 1500, 5) 1000, 6)
