O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass
Series Invades Tazewell on Saturday, May 12th |
LEXINGTON, KY (5/7/07) - For the first time in
nearly three years, the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass
Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirt will invade the
bad-fast, high-banked Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the
Harley Davidson of Knoxville 50. The nation's most competitive
regional racing series has had five different winners in five
races this season while Mike Marlar currently leads the Series
points standings.
On Saturday night, May 12th, the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the
Bluegrass Series will attempt to tame "The Taz". A complete
racing program for the Series will feature Racing Optics Time
Trials, Mason Racin'/Arizona Sport Shirts Heats, Design 500
B-Mains, and the Harley Davidson of Knoxville 50 A-Main paying
$4000 to win. Scott Sexton won the only other O'Reilly NARA
Battle of the Bluegrass Series event held at the speedway back
on October 2, 2004.
The purse for the Harley Davidson of Knoxville 50 is as follows:

Tazewell Speedway is a high-banked 1/3-mile clay oval owned by
Gary Hall. Just 15 minutes from the Kentucky/Tennessee border,

After five events in the 2007 season, the O'Reilly NARA Battle
of the Bluegrass Series has had five different winners from four
different states. Glasgow, KY's Michael England notched his
first ever Series win in the season-opener at Florence Speedway.
The following weekend, Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH was
victorious at Twin Cities while Martinsville, IN's Don O'Neal
nabbed his 6th Hoosier Dirt Classic win. Last weekend, 2004
Series Champion Aaron Hatton of Mt. Sterling, KY picked up the
win at Ponderosa and 2003 Series Champion Mike Marlar of
Winfield, TN grabbed the win in the 10th Annual Spring Sizzler
at Bluegrass Speedway.
Heading into the event at Tazewell, Mike Marlar leads a tight
points battle with Stanford, KY's Victor Lee just 28 points
behind in second with Verona. KY's Jerry Rice just 14 markers
behind Lee. Isom, KY's Chris Combs currently sits fourth in the
Championship Chase while Rookie of the Year leader Jason Keltner
of Campbellsville, KY rounds out the five. Defending Series
Champion Mike Jewell is sixth in the points standings with David
Webb seventh, Tyrel Todd eighth, Justin Rattliff ninth, and Tim
Tungate tenth. Over 100 different drivers have competed with the
O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Series already in 2007.
