Kramer Conquers Caution-Filled Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Main at 201 Speedway

Sitka, KY-June 14, 2008- The Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division presented by Graphic Impressions pulled in to the Chuckie May promoted 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY and Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would continue his winning ways with the “BoB Mod Squad” and garner $1,500 for his evening’s efforts after taking a series provisional to start the event and charge from 21st to first at the finish, surviving 12 caution periods along the way.

Kramer’s victory was his fifth series win of the season and 18th career series win came aboard the Claudette Kramer owned FOX Custom Cabinets/Wild’s Restoration Service/Larry’s Truck Service/Hill’s Historic Painting/Bright Beginnings Child Care/SuperATV.com sponsored #77 Lightning Chassis powered by a Bullock by Kramer Race Engine.  The winner’s entry also receives product support from PBM Performance Products, AFCO Racing Products, NAPA, and Valvoline.

Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY would turn in his best series performance of the ’08 race season after taking runner-up honors, with Kevin Mayabb of Campton, KY rolling home in third after taking a track provisional and starting 23rd.  Leading series rookie of the year candidate Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN would score a fourth place finish, with Bryan Salisbury completing the top five at the drop of the checkered flag.

With four caution flags waving before an official lap was scored, series officials would start the event single-file, with Josh Lucas taking the race lead, followed by Jim LeMaster, Jimmy Arnett, Charlie Jude, and Stanley Haddix.  Lap 2 would see caution for Walt Mayabb, with another caution flying on the restart for a three car tangle between Mick Sansom, Robbie Gullion, and Brandon Green and once the green waved again, Arnett would take second, with Jude taking third, followed by Haddix and Marlar.  Caution would fly again on lap 4 for Charlie Jude slowing on the track.  The restart would see Don Adams go to third, with Shawn Tolson taking fourth, with Skylar Marlar taking fifth.  Lap 7 would see Kramer make his way into the top five and into fourth, with Jude bringing out the caution again on lap 8, with LeMaster spinning out on the restart to void that restart.

With Lucas still on the point, Marlar would go to fifth on the restart, while Kramer would pressure Adams for third.  Lap 12 would see Arnett take the top spot from Lucas, with Kramer taking third on the same circuit.  Corey McKenzie would make his way into the top five on lap 13, while Lucas dogged Arnett for the race lead.  Fourth place running Adams would pull pitside on lap 16, with caution flying for Leslie Johnson on lap 17.  Arnett would hold the lead until spinning out on lap 19.  The restart would have Kramer out front, with McKenzie up to second, followed now by Lucas, Marlar, and Kevin Mayabb.

The final caution would wave on lap 24 when McKenzie’s night would end with mechanical problems while running in second.  The final restart would see Kramer still on the point, with Lucas, Marlar, Kevin Mayabb and Tolson in pursuit.  The final five circuits would see Kramer keep Lucas at bay and take the checkered flag first, with Lucas, Kevin Mayabb, Marlar, and Bryan Salisbury completing the top five.  The remainder of the top ten would be Stanley Haddix, Shawn Tolson, Jimmy Arnett, Robbie Gullion, and Jason Perry.

In preliminary action, Josh Lucas was top qualifier among 29 entries with a lap time of 15.131 seconds.  Qualifying heat checkered flags would go to Lucas in Wayne Bowen Racingn Supply heat one, Jimmy Arnett in K&N Performance Engineering heat two, Randy Boggs in Graphic Impressions heat three, and Charlie Jude in Real Racing Wheels heat four.  The B-Mains were won by Skylar Marlar and Don Adams, with series provisional starts going Joey Kramer and Walt Mayabb, while Kevin Mayabb and Brandon Johnson earned track provisionals.

The next event for the Modified division of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series will take place at the Mark and Tommy Trimble promoted Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY on Friday July 18.  The event will be the Modified portion of the Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial weekend at “The Action Track” and pay $1,500 to win.
