Battle of the
Bluegrass Modified Series Returns to “The Bad Fast Taz” on June 7
Louisville, Kentucky-June 1, 2008- The
Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division
presented by Graphic Impressions returns to action after an off
weekend on Saturday June 7 for the second visit of the season to
Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for a $2,000 to win event.
The June 7 Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series event at Tazewell
Speedway will see a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying
heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $2,000 to win A-main for the Battle of
the Bluegrass Modified division.
Activities for the June 7 Tazewell Speedway event will see the pit
area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at
5:00 p.m. Practice laps will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by time
trials, then racing. Ticket prices for this event will $15 in the
general admission area and $30 in the pit area. Local divisions in
action at this event will be Steel Head Late Models, Modified Street,
Pure Street, and Four Cylinder divisions.
The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel
Modified division has made three previous appearances at Tazewell
Speedway. Two events in 2007 were won by Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN
and Don Adams of London, KY, with Kramer winning the series season
opener at Tazewell on April 12 of this race season.
The A-Main purse and payout for the Saturday June 7 Tazewell Speedway
event is as follows: 1st- $2,000, 2nd- $800, 3rd- $600, 4th- $500,
5th- $400, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th- $200,
11th- $190, 12th- $180, 13th- $175 14th- $165, 15th- $155, 16th
through 22nd- $130.
Known as "The Bad Fast Taz", Tazewell Speedway is located just two
miles northwest of Tazewell, Tennessee. Going north on US 25-E, turn
right and then left onto Bacchus Road, and then 1.8 miles north, then
.8 miles west and the race track is located on the left.
The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series last raced on May 23 at
Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, with Don Adams of London, KY
winning the 4th Annual Summer Shootout and on May 24 at Richmond
Raceway in Richmond, KY, with the series points leader Joey Kramer the
winner at the Action Track. Don Adams of London, KY is currently
second in series points, while Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY is third.
Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN moved to fourth in series points, while
Salt Rock, WV native Mick Sansom completes the top five is series
points heading into the weekend’s upcoming action. The remainder of
the top ten in series points heading to Tazewell this weekend are
Shawn Tolson, Brandon Green, Robbie Gullion, Wayne James, and Jeff
Johnson.
