Battle of the
Bluegrass Modified Series at Ponderosa and Richmond May 23 and May 24
Louisville,
Kentucky-May 18, 2008- The Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open
Wheel Modified division presented by Graphic Impressions returns to
action with its first weekend doubleheader of the 2008 racing season,
with action at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on Friday May
23 and at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY on Saturday May 24.
The May 23 Battle of
the Bluegrass Modified Series event at Ponderosa Speedway will see a
full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and
the 30 lap, $1,500 to win A-main for the Battle of the Bluegrass
Modified division.
Activities for the May
23 Ponderosa Speedway event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m.,
with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting
will take place at 6:45 p.m., practice will begin at 7:15 p.m., with
time trials around 7:45, while racing takes the green flag at or
before 8:30. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices for this event
will $15 in the general admission area and $30 in the pit area. Local
divisions also in action at this event will be Super Late Models, Pro
Late Models, and Sportsman.
The May 24 Battle of
the Bluegrass Modified Series event at Richmond Raceway will see a
full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-mains, and
the 30 lap, $1,500 to win Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series
A-Main.
Activities for the May
24 Richmond Raceway event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m.,
with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting
will take place at 6:15 p.m., practice will begin at 6:30 p.m., with
time trials around 7:00 p.m., with racing immediately following time
trials. Ticket prices for this event will be $15 in the general
admission area and $30 in the pit area. Local divisions also in
action at this event will be Super Late Models, Crate Late Models,
Sportsman, and Four Cylinders.
The Battle of the
Bluegrass Modified division has made seven previous appearances at
Ponderosa Speedway, with winners in those events including Brent
Londeree of Columbus, IN in the very first series event back in 2004,
four wins for Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN (twice in 2005, 2006, 2007),
Don Adams (2006), and Shon Flanery of Mount Carmel, TN (2007).
The Battle of the
Bluegrass Modified division has made nine previous appearances at
Richmond Raceway, with winners in those events including Matt Boknecht
of Seymour, IN (2004, 2005), Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY (2004), Joey
Kramer of Hanover, IN (2005), Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY (2006),
Victor Lee of Stanford, KY (2006), Dennis Roberson of Lexington, KY
(2007), Delane Browning of East Bernstadt, KY (2007), and Dustin
Linville of Lancaster, KY (2007).
The A-Main purse and
payout for the Friday May 23 Ponderosa Speedway and Saturday May 24
Richmond Raceway events is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $700, 3rd-
$500, 4th- $400, 5th- $350, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th-
$225, 10th- $200, 11th- $180, 12th- $160, 13th- $150, 14th- $140,
15th- $130, 16th through 22nd- $125.
Ponderosa Speedway is a
3/8 mile clay oval promoted by Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz.
Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane, just south of
Danville, KY off of KY Hwy. 127. Turn onto KY Hwy. 300, then turn left
on KY Hwy. 37, then 1.5 miles to Phillips Lane, just past Peckerwood

Richmond Raceway is a
3/10 mile semi-banked clay oval promoted by Mark and Tommy Trimble.

Bluegrass Modified Series last raced on May 17 at Bluegrass Speedway
in Bardstown, KY in the 8th Annual Mod Squad Bash and Joey Kramer of
Hanover, IN picked up his second series win of the season and
maintained the series points lead. Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY is
currently second in series points, while Don Adams of London, KY is
third. Salt Rock, WV native Mick Sansom moved to fourth in series
points, while Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN completes the top five is
series points heading into the weekend’s upcoming action.
The Battle of the
Bluegrass DirtCar Series sanctions regional Open Wheel Modified events
