Battle of the Bluegrass Modifieds $5,000 Mayhem at Tazewell Speedway

Kentucky-September 7, 2008- The Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series
Open Wheel Modified division presented by Graphic Impressions is
seeing the 2008 racing season near its conclusion and will present its
next to last event for ’08 on Saturday September 13 at Tazewell
Speedway in Tazewell, TN. It will be the richest event of the season
for the “BoB Mod Squad” as they will race for $5,000 to win at the 1/3
mile speedplant located in the beautiful hills of East
Tennessee.
The September 13 Battle of
the Bluegrass Modified Series event at Tazewell Speedway will see a
full program of practice, time trials, Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, K&N
Engineering, Graphic Impressions, and Real Racing Wheels qualifying
heats, B-Mains, and the $5,000 to win A-Main event for the Battle of
the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Modified division.
Activities for the
September 13 Tazewell Speedway event will see the pit area open at
3:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 4:00 p.m.
Ticket prices for this event will $20 in the general admission area
and $30 in the pit area, with the drivers meeting at 7:00 p.m., with
practice, time trials, and racing to follow. Local divisions in
action at this event will be Steel Head Late Models, Modified Street,
Pure Street, and Four Cylinder divisions.
The O’Reilly Battle of the
Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division has made four
previous appearances at Tazewell Speedway. A pair of events in 2007
saw Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN and Don Adams of London, KY grab A-Main
checkered flag, with Kramer winning the 2008 series season opener at
Tazewell on April 12 and the tour’s last visit back on June 7 of this
race season.
The A-Main purse and
payout for the Saturday September 13 event at Tazewell Speedway is as
follows: 1st- $5,000, 2nd- $2,000, 3rd- $1,400, 4th- $900, 5th- $700,
6th- $600, 7th- $500, 8th- $400, 9th- $375, 10th- $350, 11th- $325,
12th- $300, 13th- $275 14th- $250, 15th- $225, 16th through 22nd-
$200.
Known as "The Bad Fast Taz",
Tazewell Speedway is located just two miles northwest of Tazewell,
Tennessee. Going north on US 25-E, turn right and then left onto
Bacchus Road, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8 miles west and the
race track is located on the left.
The Battle of the
Bluegrass Modified Series last raced on August 29 at Moler Raceway
Park in Williamsburg, OH and Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would score
his ninth series win of the season and currently leads the series
point standings. Don Adams of London, KY is currently second in
series points, while Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY is third in points.
Shawn Tolson of Walton, KY is fourth in points, while Mick Sansom of
Salt Rock, WV completes the top five in series points heading into
this weekend’s action. The remainder of the top ten in points going
into the event at Tazewell Speeday Robbie Gullion, Skylar Marlar,
Brandon Green, Josh Lucas, and Wayne James.
The Battle of the
Bluegrass DirtCar Series sanctions regional Open Wheel Modified events
