Kramer Returns to “BoB Mod Squad” Winners
Circle at 201 Speedway
Sitka, KY-August 9, 2008-
The Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified
division presented by Graphic Impressions visited the Chuckie May
promoted 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY and Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN
would return to winning form as he would win the $1,500 to win and
sweep the pair of visits to the Eastern Kentucky mountains in 2008 by
the Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series.
Kramer’s victory marked
his seventh series win for the 2008 season and was his 20th career
A-Main win with the series. The winner’s machine is a Lightning
Chassis, powered by a Bullock by Kramer Race Engine and receives
sponsorship from Fox Custom Cabinets, Wild’s Restoration Service,
Larry’s Truck Service, Hill’s Historic Painting, Bright Beginnings
Child Care, SuperATV.com, and State Farm Insurance. Product support
for Kramer’s winning mount comes from PBM Performance Products, AFCO
Race Products, NAPA, and Valvoline.
Kelly Warren of Columbia,
KY would take runner-up honors in the 30 lap event, while local 201
Speedway competitor Jimmy Arnett would finish third. Don Adams of
London, KY would finish in the fourth position, while Darren Muncy
would earn the PPM Racing Products Hard Charger award after starting
17th and finishing fifth.
The start of the 30 lap
A-Main would see a multi-car accident slow the pace before one lap was
complete, calling for a complete restart. The second attempted start
would also come back as Jacob Ross would loop his unit before one full
circuit was completed. Once action got underway, Joey Kramer would
jump to the race lead, while Kelly Warren, Josh Lucas, Jimmy Arnett,
and Robbie Gullion gave chase. Caution would fly again on lap 3 when
Pete Castle spun his machine. The restart would see Lucas go to the
runner-up slot, with Arnett third, Don Adams to fourth, and Warren
fifth. Gullion would take fifth back on lap 4, with Arnett driving by
Lucas for second on lap 5. The caution would wave again on lap 7 when
Shane Back would spin his machine.
With action resumed,
Kramer continued to lead, while Adams would take third on lap 9 from
Lucas. Warren would work his way back into the top five by getting by
Gullion and Lucas on lap 10. Caution would wave again on lap 11 when
Walt Mayabb slowed on the racing surface. This restart would see
Kramer and Arnett stay one and two, while Warren would go to third and
bring Gullion along into fourth, shuffling Adams back to the five
slot. Lap 13 would see Warren get past Arnett to retake the second
position, while Adams would work past Gullion for the fourth spot one
circuit later on lap 14.
Meanwhile, Darren Muncy
was working his way through the field after having started in the 17th
spot and work his way into the top five on lap 17. A debris for
caution on lap 18 would slow the action for the fifth time. Back
underway, Muncy would jump to the third spot, only to have Arnett go
back around Muncy and Adams to retake third one trip later. Muncy
would win a battle for fourth with Adams on lap 20, only to have Adams
retake the four spot two rounds later on lap 23.
The final six laps would
see Kramer stay in front and drive to the checkered flag first ahead
of Warren, Arnett, Adams, and Muncy. The remainder of the top ten
would be Pete Castle, Gullion, Shawn Tolson, Kevin Copher, and Lucas.
In preliminary action,
Joey Kramer was top qualifier among 34 entries with a lap time of
15.214 seconds. Qualifying heat checkered flags would go to Kramer in
Wayne Bowen Racing Supply heat one, Gullion in K&N Performance
Engineering heat two, Lucas in Graphic Impressions heat three, and
Warren in Real Racing Wheels heat four. Muncy and Castle were the
B-Main winners, while Shane Back and Stanley Haddix would earn series
provisionals, with Jim Barnett taking the track provisional.
The next event for the
Modified division of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series will
be on Friday August 22 at the Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz promoted
Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY. The event will be the 4th
