The “BoB Mod Squad” Returns to Action at 201 Speedway on Saturday August 9

Louisville, Kentucky-August 3, 2008- The Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division presented by Graphic Impressions returns to action on Saturday August 9 at 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY, paying $1,500 to win for the Modified division.  This will be the second trip of the season for the “BoB Mod Squad” to the Eastern Kentucky ¼ mile clay oval.                     

The August 9 Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series event at Bluegrass Speedway will see a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $1,500 to win A-main for the Battle of the Bluegrass Modified division.   

Activities for the August 9 event at 201 Speedway will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with general admission area open at 4:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will be at 6:45, with practice set to begin at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and racing action.  Local divisions in action at this event will be Super Late Models, Bombers, and Four Cylinders.

The Saturday August 9 event at 201 Speedway will be the eighth visit of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division at 201 Speedway.  Those event winners include Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY (2004), Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN (twice in 2005, 2007, June 2008), Don Adams of London, KY (2006, 2007), and Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY (2006)

The A-Main purse and payout for the Saturday August 9 event at 201 Speedway is as follows:  1st- $1,500, 2nd- $700, 3rd- $500, 4th- $400, 5th- $350, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th- $200, 11th- $180, 12th- $160, 13th- $150 14th- $140, 15th- $130, 16th through 22nd- $125.

Known as Eastern Kentucky’s best kept secret, 201 Speedway is a ¼ mile high-banked red clay oval promoted by former Super Late Model racer Chuckie May.  201 Speedway is located 5.4 miles north of US 23 on State Road 201, just north of the Sitka community, just outside of Paintsville, KY. 

The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series last raced on July 26 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY and Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY would score his first-ever series victory.    Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN leads the series points, with Don Adams of London, KY is currently second in series points, while Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY is third in points.  Shawn Tolson of Walton, KY is fourth in points, while Robbie Gullion of Charlestown, IN completes the top five in series points heading into this weekend’s action.  The remainder of the top ten in points going into the weekend at 201 Speedway are Mick Sansom, Skylar Marlar, Brandon Green, Wayne James, and Josh Lucas.
