Louisville, Kentucky-April 7, 2008- The Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division presented by Graphic Impressions will begin its fifth season of Open Wheel Modified competition with the tour’s 2008 opening event this Saturday evening, April 12, at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN.  

This much anticipated opening event to begin the “BoB Mod Squad” 2008 race campaign will be the 50th event in the history of the tour and it is set for this Saturday evening April 12 at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN.  The evening will consist of a full schedule of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $2,000 to win A-Main for the Open Wheel Modified division of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series.

Activities for the April 12 Tazewell Speedway event will see the pit area on at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m.  Practice laps will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by time trials, then racing.  Ticket prices for this event will $16 in the general admission area and $30 in the pit area.  Also in action at this event will be Limited Late Models, FASTRAK Crate Late Models, Modified Street, and Pure Street local divisions.

The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Open Wheel Modified division has made two previous appearances at Tazewell Speedway and that was in 2007.  Those two events were won by Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN in June and Don Adams of London, KY in August.  

Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN is the three-time and defending champion for the Open Wheel Modified division of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series.  The remainder of the top five in final series points from 2007 were Shon Flanery of Mount Carmel, TN, Dennis Roberson of Lexington, KY, Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY, and Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY.                    

The purse for the Saturday night April 12 event at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN is as follows:  1st- $2,000, 2nd- $800, 3rd- $600, 4th- $500, 5th- $400, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th- $200, 11th- $190, 12th- $180, 13th- $175, 14th- $165, 15th- $155, 16th through 22nd- $130
