Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series Entertains at 201 Speedway on August 8

Louisville, Kentucky-August 2, 2009- The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series presented by Graphic Impressions will return to competition this weekend on Saturday August 8 as the tour makes its second stop of 2009 at the Chuckie May promoted 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY for a 30 lap, $1,500 to win contest for the Bluegrass-based open-wheel warriors.

The August 8 Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series event at 201 Speedway will see a full program of practice, Racing Optics time trials, REAL Racing Wheels qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win Modified Mania A-Main. Also in competition at 201 Speedway on Saturday August 8 will be Super Late Models, Bombers, and Four Cylinders.

Activities for the August 8 201 Speedway event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., with practice starting at 7:00 p.m., followed by time trials and green flag racing. Ticket prices for this event will be $12 in the general admission area and $25 in the pit area.

The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series has made ten previous appearances at 201 Speedway. Previous event winners include Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY (2004), Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN (twice in 2005, 2007, twice in 2008, June 2009), Don Adams of London, KY (2006, 2007), and Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY (2006).

The A-Main purse for the Saturday August 8 event at 201 Speedway is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $700, 3rd- $500, 4th- $400, 5th- $350, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th- $200, 11th- $180, 12th- $160, 13th- $150, 14th- $140, 15th- $130, 16th through 22nd- $125.

201 Speedway is a ¼ mile high-banked red clay oval promoted by former Super Late Model racer Chuckie May located 5.4 miles North of US 23 on State Road 201, just North of the Sitka community, just outside of Paintsville, KY. The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series last raced on July 25 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY and Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY picked up his second series victory of the season. Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN leads the points chase heading to 201 Speedway on August 8 by merely 11 points over Bryan Barber. The remainder of the top ten in series points heading to the August 8 event at 201 Speedway are J.T. Ayers (New Haven, KY), Don Adams (London, KY), Kelly Warren (Columbia, KY), Randy Turpin (Lebanon, KY), Jason Hall (Hindman, KY), Elliott Despain (Campbellsville, KY), Russ Gabbert (Berea, KY), and Dennis Roberson (Lexington, KY).
