Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series 5th Annual Summer Shootout at Ponderosa Speedway August 21

 

Louisville, Kentucky-August 16, 2009- The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series presented by Graphic Impressions will return to competition this weekend on Friday August 21 as the tour makes its final stop of 2009 at Ponderosa Speedway for the 5th Annual Summer Shootout, a 40 lap, $2,000 to win contest for the Bluegrass-based open-wheel warriors. 

 

The August 21 Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series event at Ponderosa Speedway will see a full program of practice, Racing Optics time trials, REAL Racing Wheels qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $2,000 win 5th Annual Summer Shootout A-Main.  Also in competition at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday August 21 will be Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, and Sportsman.

 

Activities for the August 21 Ponderosa Speedway event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will take place at 6:45 p.m., with practice starting at 7:00 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:45 p.m., with green flag racing at or before 8:30 p.m.  Ticket prices for this event will be $15 in the general admission area and $30 in the pit area. 

 

The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series has made ten previous appearances at Ponderosa Speedway. Previous winners of events at Ponderosa Speedway include Brent Londeree of Columbus, IN (2004), Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN (twice in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, May 2009), Don Adams of London, KY (2006, 2008), and Shon Flanary of Church Hill, TN (2007).

 

The A-Main purse for the Friday August 21 event at Ponderosa Speedway for the 5th Annual Summer Shootout is as follows: 1st- $2,000, 2nd- $800, 3rd- $600, 4th- $500, 5th- $400, 6th- $300, 7th- $275, 8th- $250, 9th- $225, 10th- $200, 11th- $190, 12th- $180, 13th- $175, 14th- $165, 15th- $155, 16th through 22nd- $130.

 

Known as "Kentucky's Baddest Bullring", Ponderosa Speedway is a 3/8 mile red clay oval promoted by Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz. Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane, just south of Danville, KY off of KY Hwy. 127. Visitors will turn onto KY Hwy. 300, proceed left on KY Hwy. 37, then 1.5 miles to Phillips Lane, just past Peckerwood Grocery. The Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series last raced on August 8 at 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY and Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY picked up his second straight series victory and third of the season.  Barber also took the points lead and hold an 8 point advantage over Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN heading to Ponderosa Speedway on August 21.  The remainder of the top ten in series points heading to the August 21 5th Annual Summer Shootout event at Ponderosa Speedway are J.T. Ayers (New Haven, KY), Don Adams (London, KY), Kelly Warren (Columbia, KY), Jason Hall (Hindman, KY), Randy Turpin (Lebanon, KY), Elliott Despain (Campbellsville, KY), Russ Gabbert (Berea, KY), and Dennis Roberson (Lexington, KY).
